Sally has been a Registered Psychologist since 2009 and a Registered Teacher (primary) since 2013. Originally from Country NSW, Sally offers a down-to-earth communication style and prefers to avoid the use of psychological jargon and diagnostic labels. Sally looks outside the box to find what approach may be most helpful for each individual and their unique circumstances.
Working in a collaborative manner where clients can take ownership of their goals, Sally provides a safe space for processing and adjustment whilst also allowing space for light heartedness along the way. Coming from a farm background Sally has lived experience of rural life, no surprise then, she has a firm belief in the healing power of animals and the natural environment.
Sally completed her studies in psychology at Charles Sturt University (Wagga Wagga NSW) and Lakehead University (Ontario, Canada). Sally then completed a Graduate Diploma in Education at the University of the Sunshine Coast. More recently, Sally completed a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the Australian College of Applied Psychology.
Sally has completed professional development in the areas of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CF-CBT) and Solutions-Focused therapies. She is committed to ongoing professional development and describes herself as a lifelong learner.
Sally has experience working with clients of all ages (children and adults) from diverse social and ethnic backgrounds. Sally has experience in various work settings including Youth Services, Employment Services, Rehabilitation, Allied Health, and Education. Sally works from a Strengths-Based, Solutions-Focused approach, supporting clients to identify and develop their strengths to adapt and learn new coping skills. Sally believes clients can rewrite their personal narrative at any stage of their life, and to support clients to embark on such change she views as a privilege.
Sally is passionate about empowering her clients to develop a local support network so they can feel part of their community, fostering connections to ease any sense of loneliness.
Sally has a keen interest in working with clients who experience neurodivergence, anxiety, addiction, depression, work-related stress, adjustment issues, life transitions and relationship difficulties – or simply anyone wishing to feel supported in ‘writing their next chapter’.
In her spare time, Sally enjoys yoga, pilates, watching documentaries, reading biographies and being in the ocean (goal to get back out there in progress).
