Jessie McDonald

Jessie Clinical Psychologist Registrar 
Jessie McDonald is a registered psychologist who completed her Masters training in Clinical Psychology at the University of Queensland. She possesses a Master of Mental Health (Psychotherapy) and an Honours degree in Psychological Science (UQ). Jessie has spent nine years working therapeutically with adults, children and families in a range of settings, including public mental health services, non-government organisations, aged care facilities and clinical research departments. She has also provided counselling to women and children experiencing domestic violence, and to individuals living with complex mental health issues in the Brisbane area.


Jessie is a warm and authentic therapist who enjoys working with individuals across the life-span. Her therapeutic aim is to provide a safe and collaborative environment in which clients can safely connect, understand and explore issues.  Jessie’s approach incorporates evidence-based skills training and exploratory discussion to help clients manage difficult emotions and make positive changes in their lives. She has a special interest in anxiety and depression, emotion regulation and interpersonal difficulties, neurocognitive conditions (including dementia), and trauma.


Jessie is trained in a range of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectic Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Solution-Focused Therapy. She has experience in the delivery of Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (Eating Disorders and PTSD) and Interpersonal Therapy, and is an accredited Triple P Practitioner (Positive Parenting Program). Jessie is currently involved in research at the UQ School of Psychology, which informs her clinical practice.


In her private time, Jessie enjoys adventuring with family and friends, and spending time by the ocean.
